Sometimes it’s difficult to focus on anything but the cost of a new sign even if you know your business desperately needs one. However, it is imperative to look at other considerations when it comes to purchasing and installing a sign. Let’s check some out!
1. Visibility
Knowing just how visible you need your sign to be to attract attention and new customers is important, and that can vary widely depending on your location and your surroundings. If you are butted next to the interstate, having a large, easy to read sign is a must. However, if you are located in a district where cars drive by at 25 MPH and there’s a large walking population, the sign doesn’t need to be nearly as big, can have some small print on it, but also may need to ‘pop’ a bit to grab that attention.
2. Durability
You may have an old sign at your current business that has been beaten down by wind, rain, hail and snow along with UV rays. If your sign happens to be in a space that sees a large amount of this weather, having a new sign that is incredibly durable is necessary. However, if you live in an area or your business is in an area that may see very little outdoor weather, you may not need to consider durability quite as much. Take for instance, a store in a mall. They may not need to protect from weather, but they may need to protect signage from the oil of numerous hands touching it throughout the day.
3. Mounting & Installation
Knowing what is needed to mount and install the sign of your dreams is imperative to any sign company, and those are things as a business owner, that you just may not know. We personally come out, take measurements, and check to see what capabilities there are in your location. Depending on the type of sign you would like, you may need to have electrical for those lights. If that electrically only goes up to a certain height on the building, but you want your sign higher, that could pose great difficulty. One of the many perks of working with a local sign company is that they can take a look at the area in person before quoting a price. We try our best to give a factual quote, not something that will change once we get the bid.
4. Type of Material
Unless you’re in the sign industry or find signage material a fascinating topic, you may not have the expertise naturally when it comes to choosing the materials wanted. You also may not know all the different materials you can choose. For outdoor signage, stainless steel and aluminum are quality options as well as acrylic and polycarbonate. There are also many different lighting options depending on the effect you would like as well as the lights that go into the fixtures. If looking at signage indoors, vinyl can be a great choice along with some wood or glass materials as well as the ones already discussed. Options also include eco-friendly products as well as high-end materials for a more luxurious look.
5. Aesthetics
Now let’s be honest, everything mentioned earlier are of grave importance, but if a sign is not pleasing to the eye, it’s not going to help your brand succeed. You have hopefully created a brand that you love, but if you need another set of eyes on it, we have graphic designers who can give you insight into possible changes to make, even if they’re minimal. We sometimes have businesses or individuals who come to us with a basic idea but need a designer’s eye to help put it into motion. We want your sign to succeed. If your sign succeeds, then we have done our job to ensure that a client is happy. Having signage that not only you love but is also eye-catching to the passerby is what you want to grow your business. And we want to help that business grow!
